New Arrivals on the Farm!

28 Feb

New Arrivals…

As well as the piglets, we have some other exciting baby ‘moos’… we’ve just welcomed an ADORABLE new calf called Douglas to the farm! You  can visit him over in the Animal Barn where he is surrounded by lots of other furry friends. Douglas is a Jersey bull calf and whilst he is little at the moment, he will become as big as, and probably outgrow, our gorgeous Jersey girls Jessie and Heidi!

We have now started to bring him out at our famous Farm Show (which is on at weekends and high season days) where some lucky children will be given the opportunity to feed and stroke our lovely lad. You can even give him a stroke at Animal Handling events too (on every day)! Make sure to give Halfpenny and Bovril some attention too though… they’re our 4 month old Friesian calves and we think they might be getting a little bit jealous of the new boy in town!

What to expect this Spring…

Our sheep and goats also have a very exciting spring ahead… lots of them are soon going to have BABIES! In fact, many of our sheep and goats are expecting twins and triplets, even our lovely pygmy Flick is expecting her first litter which we’re very excited about! It’s going to be a very busy spring on the farm indeed and we hope you’ll come down to see mummies and babies alike at our Spring into Easter event this year (30th March – 15th April). As well as coming to visit our baby lambs and goats, you could even help to bottle feed them at our Farm Show! You can also help find a name for new born fluffy chicks, which are due in February half term, in the ‘Name the chick competition’. With ducklings also due in March you’d be ‘quackers’ to miss out on all the cuddly fluffy cuties. You never know when a chick, lamb or kid will be born next; it could even happen when you’re here!
