Fisher’s Farm Park – Winner of Best Sussex Family Attraction 2022
The name of Fisher’s Farm may not have changed, but the site itself has come a seriously long way since the 1980s when it was first purchased by the Rollings family. Initially they turned the run down farm with derelict outbuildings into a ‘pick your own fruit’ business. The fruit fields covered the entire playground area as it stands today and the business was successful, but obviously seasonal. So the Rollings decided to convert the derelict cow stalls and pig pens into four holiday cottages. A section of these cottages now forms part of the farm house!
Given the land they had the family began to acquire a few animals. It was when they saw how much of a hit the animals were with the holiday guests and PYO customers that the beginnings of Fisher’s Farm as we know and love it today came about. The Rollings family set up an animal tour with an entrance fee using the existing outbuildings on the farm. This very quickly grew with the addition of a shop, a tearoom and a campsite. To give some context of just how far the family have brought the farm the tearoom back then had a single kettle, whereas the 120 seater restaurant on site today serves between 200 and 300 meals a day in high season! They may have scaled up their volume but they haven’t scaled back their quality – Trina Rolling’s original cake recipes are still used to this very day.
Despite how far the farm has come from when it was purchased the business remains very much a family affair. The Rollings son and his wife have now joined the team – and I’m sure their children are more than happy to serve as chief play testers whenever there is a new addition! Play is a huge focus at Fisher’s Farm – as well as the animals the site now boasts multiple outdoor play areas, an outdoor themed indoor play, soft play, baby sensory room, splash park, multiple rides and even an assault course. It really is a seriously fun day out for all the family!
